Ruins in Mexico.

Here are some photographs that I have been holding onto for a while.
And haven't posted.
But here they are.
:)

They call themselves the Guardians of their Ancestors.
They're purpose is to teach the dance of the Gods to new
generations so that their cultures won't be forgotten.

This is the pyramid of the Sun.

I ask them for a photograph and this is
the pose he did for me. This is my favorite one.

1st Semester Assignments

Our first official meeting of the year will be on Monday (Oct 5th) in room 1002. If you are on yearbook we have gotten permission from your teacher for you to attend the meeting. You will need to sign in at yearbook before you head over to photo club.

We will go over these assignments next week, but take a look now and start brain storming. There may be a little time to start shooting on Monday.

All assignments should be thought out and planned. No snapshots will make it into the semester photo gallery. Please use the cameras that are available for check out, use good lighting techniques and try to think about your framing and exposure. I realize that a lot of things can be changed in photoshop these days, but it is important to get as much right in the camera as possible. We would like you to turn in at least 12 assignments during the semester.

Complimentary Colors- Photograph anything using complimentary colors

more info

Monochromatic- Create a photograph with only one tone in it.

more info

Nature- I think you can figure this one out on your own

Portrait of a friend- Photograph a friend. This CANNOT be a snapshot. It needs to be well thought out, have great light and be posed well.

Close-up- This assignment must be shot with either a macro lens or the extension tubes. You can photograph anything you like as long as the final product is interesting.

more info

Black and white in color- Take a color photo that appears to be in black and white.

Familiar and unfamiliar- Choose a thing that people use in everyday life. Now photograph it the way it is intended to be used and then in a creative way that it was not intended for. Example: Coffee mug can be photographed in breakfast scene and then in photographed in a garden in use as a flower pot.

Copycat- Find a photo in a magazine that you like and copy it.

CD Cover- Take a picture that might be used on a cd cover. This could be one person, multiple people (a band) or a thing. You must turn in a square format photos. This will require some thinking on your part before you take the photo. You can either turn in just the photo or take it a step further and make a complete cover in photoshop.

Product photojournalism vs. studio- Choose an object to photograph. Take one photo in a studio setting (professional lighting will be provided during club hours) and take one photo in a photojournalistic way. Your photojournalistic shot should say something about the product or tell a story about those that might purchase the product.

Brown Bag- You will be given a brown bag with something in it, photograph it in an interesting way. (As a student I did this assignment. I got a spark plug. I found a bald model and pasted spark plugs down the middle of his scalp (a Mohawk) and took some portraits of him.)

25 strangers- Photograph 25 strangers in the same setting or in the same way and present it in a creative way. If your creative presentation requires prints please let us know so we can have them printed at the lab. (I also did this assignment in school. I was having a creative block so I built a large black box and photographed 25 people being “stuck in a box. I printed them all square and turned in 25 boxes all containing a photo of one of my 25 strangers.)

Open assignment (you can turn in up to three open assignments)

Moving liquid- We will do this during one of our lab days as a group.

Picture Story- Tell a story using 3 to 5 pictures.

Field trip (can turn in up to two images per field trip)
