Some helpful links

Hey guys, Jamie here! Sorry I missed the first meeting, I accidentally booked myself a shoot and could not reschedule. I know that Jack gave everyone their first assignment today and I wanted to give you guys some links that may help you make a better photo. We will be going over this stuff at some point, but for those of you that are ambitious and want to start taking better photos sooner, check these out. I did try to find video tutorials, but did not have much luck so you will be stuck reading these links. Check them out, most of them are pretty short.

Using a point and shoot camera
5 elements of composition in photography
5 more elements of composition in photography
Rule of thirds
Working the lines
Finding fresh angles
Using focal points
Getting backgrounds right
Framing your shot
Fill your frame

By the way, the best tip I came across while I was looking for these sites was

"An ideal memory card for has 50 pictures of the same subject, all of them bad. These prove that you're not afraid to experiment. And then one good picture. This proves that you're not completely incompetent.

It takes at least 10 frames to get one good picture of one person. To have everyone in a group photo looking good requires holding down that shutter release button. You should have pictures from different angles, different heights, flash on, flash off, etc."

In other words, TAKE A LOT OF PHOTOS! The biggest secret of the pros is they shoot a lot of photos of the same thing. Change your angle, distance, focus, lighting, Etc.
