Assignment #1

Part 1
Find a photo from the internet or magazine that you love and bring it to class

Part 2:
Photograph something BIG & GREEN

That's it! Be creative, have fun and KEEP IT CLEAN! Remember, you don't necessary need to photograph something large literally, you need to make whatever green subject you choose feel large. This assignment can be shot on any camera 1 megapixel (mp) or higher and should be turned in on Sunday by 5pm. We have found a few samples on the internet for your viewing pleasure. Remember these might not be great photos, but they will help describe the assignment for you. And yes, Mr. and Mrs Chapel (please call me Jamie) will also be doing the assignment!

Use camera angles to make something look larger than it really is. Above looking up and this already large statue makes it look not only large in size but also dominate which gives the "feeling" of big.

Although we have not learned about lenses yet using a wide angle lens and shooting close to a subject will make it feel large (like this green pepper) For those of you shooting with a point and shoot camera with a zoom, put you zoom as wide as possible and shoot as close as your camera will allow you to focus. (you would use "wide" to photograph a large group of people. "Tight" would be used to photograph a close up from far away)

Using scale is a great way to show how large something is as shown above. This trick can also be used to photograph small subjects. Say you want to photograph a green tomato, putting a really small tomato next to it would make a regular tomato feel bigger. Couple this with a camera angle that makes things look big and you've got a winner.

This photo is kinda boring, but shows how the use of words can help establish "big"

Here is another use of scale.
Lastly you can just take a really cool shot of something that is quite literally big and green.
