Picture Portraits

Its Miriam in case you were wondering.
First Author Invite-Isn't that awesome??
Here are some of my pictures that I have done in the last months, I thought it will be a good idea to explain what I was trying to photograph and how i fixed the picture. They all are portraits, I like photographing people. Tell me what you guys think! You can comment on here.
-This I shot agaisn't a white wall or rather a white closet door, my hot bright light was a construction light. I centered it in the person, you can see that in his cheek facing the camera.
I added some effects to this picture, I wasn't looking for something in specific, just messing around. I made it in black and white and added a vignette. The vignette adds the effect of the dark corners around the photograph.

-For this up here its my red wall (favorite wall) and I wanted to blend in the person so she wored a red shirt, this makes her face stands out, I think. I was shooting in AV, although I do not remember how much was the focus provably 4. The effect on it is called cinema scope, it makes it a grain like image, and adds the two dark bars on top.

-This is in the same prop as the other picture, I didn't add much just the vignette.
-This one was outside almost in the middle of the day, which is a very bad idea.
For those that are all natural and don't like to add or take anything away, this is one of them.
Although in this photograph I used the reflector on the sun, on the gold side. I faced towards the sun and angle it on the floor. This brought more color in the grass and kind of like a shine on the pink dress.
-This was done in the garden, obviously. I didn't fix anything. I did use some flash to make the green and white pop. The reason was because the sun was gone and everything looked pale.
*I really can't remember all of the technical stuff, like at what focus. This were taken some time ago. Soo, what do you guys think?
P.S. In case you were wondering where I edited the pictures its a website called Picnik.
Its free and you can make an account, but you could only upload 5 at a time, after that everything else is erased. Its really cool. Here's the link:

thanks for being the first brave soul to post. I love that you explained your shots! When I was at Brooks (photo school) we had an assignment where we had to match our background to our subjects clothes. My model and background were also red.

Nice job witht he lighting. I know several people who have used the construction lights on shoots but have never tried it. I think I may give it a shot.

M- you need to use gloves when you are adjusting them. See if Chapel has an extra pair that you can have. I learn that in school the hard way!
